OJS Services

Planning and configuration support for journals using Open Journal Systems (OJS), from initial setup through ongoing maintenance.

OJS Services supports journals and editorial teams that run, or are planning to run, on Open Journal Systems - covering the planning and configuration work around that platform.

What's covered

  • OJS installation planning - scoping requirements before an installation begins.
  • Setup and configuration - configuring journal sections, roles, and submission settings.
  • Theme configuration - applying and adjusting an OJS theme to match a journal's branding.
  • Journal workflow configuration - setting up review, editorial, and production workflows.
  • Migration - planning the move of existing journal content and metadata into OJS.
  • Issue setup - structuring volumes, issues, and sections.
  • Metadata configuration - setting up metadata fields and export formats.
  • DOI workflow preparation - preparing the configuration needed to work with a DOI registration agency of your choice.
  • Training - walkthroughs for editorial staff on day-to-day OJS use.
  • Upgrade planning - planning version upgrades with minimal workflow disruption.
  • Maintenance planning - ongoing configuration and housekeeping recommendations.

Note: this website itself is built on ProcessWire CMS, a separate platform from OJS - being built on ProcessWire does not itself provide OJS hosting. OJS hosting and DOI registration are arranged separately, typically through your institution, a hosting provider, or a DOI registration agency.

Ethical Boundaries

We provide planning, configuration, and advisory support around OJS - we do not host journals ourselves as part of this service, and we are not affiliated with the Public Knowledge Project (the organization behind OJS) or any DOI registration agency. We will not:

  • Guarantee uptime, hosting, or DOI registration as part of this service.
  • Claim affiliation with the Public Knowledge Project or any indexing/DOI body.
